Why Take Private Lessons?

With the dawn of YouTube and other online sources of learning, what benefits are there to taking private lessons? A private teacher is a coach. They encourage you to prepare for the next lesson, they help to identify your weaknesses and have exercises to help strengthen them. Lessons allow you time to ask specific questions, and if you're still wondering more, getting in depth answers. Your money is an investment in yourself. You will get out what you put in. Your private instructor has expertise, experience, and a library of knowledge (as well as books) on their chosen profession.

Depending on the studio you choose to take lessons at, you may have weekly, biweekly, or monthly sessions. Some places are more flexible. Some are less flexible. Be sure you look into your teacher's background, their education, their experience, and their reviews/references. It's well worth a little research to find the right fit for you. Not every student/teacher pairing is a match. But sometimes, you meet a great teacher and have a mentor you will look toward for answers and encouragement for years to come!
