Percussion is the one group in the classroom that needs a ton of guidance to run well, but sometimes gets ignored. Yes, they can make a sound out of the drum. Yes, they can get a sound out of the bells. But how will they learn vital skills to success without your guidance? They don’t need to have a lot of focus in class, but a prepared teacher will give them the tools they need for self-guided study while you’re busy! This is the key to your section’s success.

Instrument Check Up is a big place to start. What condition is your school’s equipment in? Do you have everything you need? Are your resources for them going to help them be successful? I have book suggestions, organization help, and a list of what to check for. I will keep adding topics, and answer questions that come my way. You’ve got this teaching thing, and you have back up for your percussionists!
